Privacy policy

Poil & Museau is an information and product recommendation website for dog and cat owners. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it and how you can exercise your rights, in accordance with Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

Information we collect

Contact details: your first name and email address, if you sign up for the newsletter or write to us.
Communications: the content of messages you send us through the form or by email.
Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed. This data is processed by our host to keep the website running and secure.

We only collect the information needed for the purposes described below.

Why we use it

To answer your questions and requests.
To send you the newsletter, if you have consented. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
To keep the website secure and prevent malicious activity.
To understand, in aggregate, how the website is used so we can improve our content.

Cookies and affiliate links

The website itself does not use advertising cookies. Any audience measurement is done in aggregate, without cookies that identify you.

Some links on the website are affiliate links, including through the Amazon Associates program. When you click such a link, the merchant's website may set its own cookies to attribute the commission. We do not sell your personal information. It may only be shared with the service providers that help us run the website, to the extent necessary:

our host (Cloudflare), which processes technical browsing data;
our newsletter provider, if applicable.

Some of these providers may store information outside Québec. Before any such transfer, we assess whether the information will receive adequate protection, and agreements govern its use.

Retention and security

We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes for which it was collected: until you unsubscribe for the newsletter, and for the time needed to handle your request for messages. It is then securely destroyed.

We take reasonable measures to protect your information against loss, unauthorized access or disclosure. In the event of a confidentiality incident that presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify the people concerned and the Commission d'accès à l'information, as required by law.

Your rights

At any time, you can:

request access to the personal information we hold about you;
request that it be corrected if it is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous;
withdraw your consent, including for the newsletter;
request that we stop disseminating your information or de-index any hyperlink attached to your name, in the cases provided for by law.

To exercise these rights, write to info@poiletmuseau.com. We will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Minors

The website is not intended for people under 14. We do not knowingly collect information about them.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date of the last update appears at the top of this page.

In case of any discrepancy between the French and English versions, the French version prevails.
